Although smaller packages can be sent individually it is often necessary to over case items prior to having them airlifted. At Britannia Robbins we have modular packing cases designed to fit into standard aircases. In these days of increasing charges by airlines for excess baggage, many clients find it much more economical to take advantage of our air freight services.
Security
In many instances it is not always possible to give a final accurate price of the consignment until it has been collected and weighed. This is because the airlines charge on either the final volumetric weight or space; whichever of the two is the greater. Your goods will be forwarded to the airport for onward consolidation, weighing and measuring.
At this point, in order to comply with current air freight security measures your goods will either be placed in an X-Ray machine or decompression chamber (A necessary measure that should cause no wear and tear to your goods) prior to being prepared for onward movement. It is important that you contact us to ensure you have the correct documentation for the country of your destination.
Containerisation
Your effects will then be forwarded to the airlines or to the airlines handling agent. Prior to this the items will have been containerised into an air igloo or loaded and netted onto giant pallets. Upon presentation of the export documents the necessary customs formalities will be completed and a customs examination may be carried out. When the items have been sent we will be allocated with unique air waybill numbers that will allow us to track your consignment throughout its journey. Destination Services
For smaller consignments many customers prefer to collect their goods from the airport; but we would recommend you allow Britannia Robbins to assist you in providing a customs clearance service. It is also possible to obtain a door to door rate to most worldwide destinations for you. The normal radius is 0-50 miles from the airport; but it is possible to get special rates for destinations further afield. Please agree the unpacking service prior to forwarding the goods.
